Dumb Question

In an effort to cut costs, GM is closing several plants, which will leave many people without jobs in the future. Do you think that the top brass at GM will cut their salaries and benefits as part of the cost cutting effort?

Be careful what you ask for JMG. Given their golden parachute contracts it is more expensive for them to get fired or resign.

And no, they won't cut their salaries. Hey they have already made many sacrifices. They have reduced the private jet fleet from 5 to 3. And they have traded all their SUV limos back to the basic Cadilac limo.

Golden parachute. You know, gold is really heavy.

I was just thinking that if trickle down economics is so great, then the cuts should start at the top.

Well, that is what Edward Deming said. All leadership, quality, and initiatives must be driven from the top down.

But GM never listened to Deming, even though they paid him for many years to work with them, they never listened. Pretty dumb to pay and expert and not follow his advice.

Japan listened to Deming and look what they did because of it.

I told you it was a dumb question.

There is a big difference between a rhetorical question and a dumb question.

Rhetorical questions are a great way to sarcastically make a statement without actually having to be accussed of making it. You scored big on this point JMG!

On a lighter note: Just remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question; just stupid people asking questions.
