Yes, You're at the Right Place

Now that I'm done with school, I'm going to be playing with my blog template and go for a more exciting look. After nearly a year of blogging, I'm getting tired of looking at the same old stuff all the time.

I welcome your advice and tips.

I like the Cezanne up top. I've thought about changing some things on my blog, but I haven't even found the energy to take down my last poll.

I like it, too. It really grabs your attention.

I don't know much about art, but I know what I like when I see it, and I like Cezanne's landscapes and still lifes when he uses the terracottas and blues together.

I like the picture. The yellow background is hard on my eyes however.

P.S. It is not an objection to the color, it is the brightness that is hard.

Also, you may try a darker font on top of the picture. Some of text is hard to read.

Wow, I sound critical. Don't mean to be, I like the changes. But you asked so those are my opinions for tweaks.

Gosh, Tony, just trash my blog why don't you! :-)

Did you see my favicon up in the address bar?

No, I just see the Explorer icon from work. I look at home. May be a security setting issue too.

I notice that a lot of times I don't get icons for short cuts and other things. It always just shows the default Explorer e. Bugs me, but I have not found the setting to enable showing the real icons.

You might need to upgrade your browser if you don't have the latest version. I use Firefox, and I haven't had any trouble seeing stuff.

What is a favicon? Are my congregants missing out because I don't have one on my blog?

I really like the darkening of the background and the font. Much easier on the eyes.

I did a little research and MS Internet Explorer is not the best supporter of these icons. Kind of a pain in the posterior. I am using Explorer 6 and don't know if I can upgrade to 7 without paying for the latest Op Sys. Plus I don't have much control over my work PC. Locked down by IT.

Tony, it seems that Firefox is one of the best browsers for just about everything, including security. It's so secure that I haven't figured out how to use my Paypal account when I'm using Firefox.

Mugsy, I can't believe I get to enlighten you about something! A favicon is a little icon that appears next to the address of a website and next to the title of a website when you add it to your bookmarks or favorites--hence the name "favicon." It sort of makes your blog title stand out in people's bookmarks because it has its own unique image next to it.

You can create your own with Photoshop or you can go to this site and they'll make one for you from your own picture or other jpeg for free in just a few seconds. I learned how to do it in just a few minutes, so I know anyone else can do it.

Interesting. My browser must not support that, because I haven't seen any favicons. Thank you for enlightening me.
