From my freshman essays:
"The United States should not pride into the business of other countries."
"I don't want people to think I'm ease dropping in on their conversations."
"We searched in every nook and granny of the house."

The first one gets an A in my book. Maybe he or she meant it exactly the way they wrote it.
Sure sounds like what W has been doing. Priding his way into everything he does.

I thought of that when I read it. Although the student made a mistake, the thought rings true.
I LOVE THESE!!!
And yes, #1 is the best!
M, it would be adorable if these weren't from college students.
Some are calling college the new high school. I am inclined to agree based on my experiences.
Today, the headline on our campus newspaper read: "Dow Jones effects local gas prices."
I showed this grievous error to several other English teachers who were equally as shocked as I was, but neither were we surprised.
Sometimes I wonder if all my efforts are in vain.
Yeah, I agree, M. Sometimes I'll get an email from a student who will use text message language shorthand, and I just don't even bother to reply, or if I do reply, I tell the student to email me back in English.
I give my students my cell phone number so that I have to keep up with only one voicemail box, but because I don't have the unlimited text message package with my phone plan, I told them that if they text message me I'll take the cost out of their grade!
