Dumb Questions

Why is it that the President seemed much more saddened and wore a much more somber expression on his face when he spoke this morning of the death of William Rehnquist than he has in the past week when speaking about the death and suffering of thousands of people on the Gulf Coast?

Why is it that the U.S. military responded to the tsunami victims thousands of miles away with supplies the next day but took several days to bring supplies only a few hundred miles?

It really makes you wonder, doesn't it? Of course, I'm not really that much of a bush fan anyway, but one would think that he'd at least be TRYING to fake it. :p

And as for why we took so long to get the supplies down to the poor folks is because we had to fly most of our military back from the "War on Terror". Again, I'll mention that I'm prebiased agains Bush and his decisions, so if I sound bitter, sorry.

I like the blog, btw. Well done.

Great questions. True Vox, I voted twice for President Bush and I am disheartend, angry, and ashamed for his administration. Especially about the war and the the hurricane preparedness and response.

Newt Gingrinch this week made the comment that the hurricane response calls into question the administrations whole plan for national security, the home security system, etc. "If we could not be more prepared and had a faster response for something we saw coming in the Gulf for days, how do we thing we will react better to a chemical or biological attack."

I will frankly admit, everything about this administration seems to be a house of cards; total surface action but no substance. Also I am having a difficult time finding the man of God in his policies and procedures.

I agree, Tony. This disaster has shown just how weak our country is in preparedness. I'm sure that those who would like to destroy us are taking extensive notes.

But aside from that, I am completely sickened by Washington's seeming lack of compassion for the suffering experienced by those in the Gulf Coast. I'm seeing interviews with local authorities whose hands are tied, who are as cut off as the people they are trying to help. I see them crying, begging the federal government to hurry and help their people. It is obvious to me that Washington is completely out of touch with regular people.

True Vox, thanks for stopping by. I didn't vote for Bush, but I was optimistic when he became President. As time has passed, I don't see any evidence that Jesus Christ is his favorite philosopher.

I do have to say, though, that I am having more faith in the media people for asking the hard questions of Bush and his administration.

And I've heard that many other countries are offering aid: including Iran, part of the Axis of Evil. Go figure.

It raises so many questions. Bush was gung ho to respond to the tragedy of 9/11. But this is so much worse, and it took him two days to even come back from vacation. Cheney couldn't even be bothered to come back. Congress acted in one day on behalf of Terry Schiavo. It took them five here. Now, to add insult to injury, Halliburton has been awarded the cleanup contract.

Are you serious?!!

About which part? (it was all serious)

Oh, sorry, I should have been more specific. It was the Halliburton part that got me. I shouldn't be surprised that Bush's friends are going to profit off of this disaster.

Thanks for the heads-up. I went looking for more info about it and was just floored. But I shouldn't have been.
